The Reality of "Cleaned" Coins. Cleaning is always a matter of degree. In our 55+ years, we have found that almost every coin not in a sealed mint holder has been "cleaned" in some way-whether by a soft cloth, a pocket, or professional conservation.
If you ask us if a coin has been cleaned, we will give you our honest opinion on its visibility and its likelihood of passing a third-party grading service. Dumb questions are better than stupid mistakes.
