2005 American Legacy Collection US Mint Proof Set & Commemorative Coins

  

For your consideration, the American Legacy Proof Set from the United States Mint for 2005. This set was created starting in 2005 and featured a combination of one clad proof set for each year coupled with one or two commemorative coins from the same year.

This assemblage was packaged in a premier folder containing historic background information about the commemorative issues. Those sets also failed to sell and were discontinued. Although I have tried to capture the set in my photos, I don't think I have done it justice. Speaking of justice, Chief Justice John Marshall was celebrated in this first set with a proof commemorative silver dollar that was issued in 2005.

Alongside Justice Marshall is the Marine Corps commemorative dollar from that same year. That coin was issued in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps, which today we all know is a Semiquincentennial anniversary. Not sure I knew that in 2005.
