These were the pattern coins submitted by George Morgan in 1878. The Smithsonian held onto the submission from George Morgan and was authorized for the 140th anniversary striking a series of limited-edition Ultra High Relief gold and silver reverse proofs, and Ultra High Relief Matte Proof, the first time in coin history.

1 ounce PF70 Matte Gold. 2 ounce Reverse PF70 Silver.

This is a rare and unheard of set of coins. One coin had only 150 created, another had 399 and one had 1500 and the last had 2500 coins stamped, in the world. This is the only set of it's kind that I have seen, ever. You will not see another. These coins have the mintage numbers that are included.
