1953 US Mint Silver Proof Set

  
Up for sale today is this 1953 US Mint Silver Proof Set in an old Whitman Holder. These sets are becoming hard to find in quality condition. When choosing a set it's important to look at each coin because many of these sets over the years have been improperly stored and/or mishandled, Thus, it's often difficult to obtain a set where all of the coins are problem free with no distractions. This set is from my personal collection. First up is the Franklin Half Dollar.

This coin is what I would call gem Brilliant with deep mirrors. Both sides are Blast White. Next up is the proof Washington Quarter. This coin is a brilliant gem, and exhibits deep mirrors and is blast white on both sides.

Up next is the Roosevelt proof Dime which is a blast white brilliant gem. Next is the Jefferson Nickel. This coin is a brilliant gem, and exhibits deep mirrors, and what I would refer to as a gun metal appearance on both sides. In addition, there is the ever so light golden tone around the letters ATE (in STATES) on the reverse at 6:30. Overall this a problem free example. Lastly, is the Lincoln proof. This coin was mishandled likely when encapsulated. It exhibits carbon spotting and fingerprint etching on the obverse and carbon spots on the reverse.
